Always have double sided
deadlocks fitted on all your doors to make it harder for
large items to be removed. The lockwood 001 is
recommended as it has a safety feature preventing you
from being locked in accidently.
Never leave a key hidden near your
front door. Either leave it with a trusted neighbour or
friend. People can usually see you when you go to get
your spare key and very soon your hiding place is common knowledge
When moving into a new house or
unit always have a locksmith re-key your locks.
Its cheaper than replacing your locks and you'll sleep
easier knowing no-one else has keys to your
place |

If you go on holidays ask a
friend or neighbour to collect your mail and take your
otto bins out. Thieves can easily find out who is on
holidays by seeing which house has lots of mail and who
has not put bins out on collection
night.
If you are at home always
keep the doors locked that you cant keep an eye on.
Many Burgulars will gain entry while you are home to
steal wallets, keys, handbags, laptops and other
valuables that can easily be
carried
If you buy expensive electrical
appliances, make sure you cut up the boxes into small
pieces so they cant be seen in the bin. Leaving a box
for a 50 inch plasma on the nature strip for bin
collection is just asking for
trouble!

If you have expensive items of
jewellery or valuable documents consider buying a safe.
They come in a variety of sizes and in most cases it is
enough of a deterant to keep your items safe and
secure!
Make sure you consult your local
locksmith if you lose your keys to your car. More often
than not they can replace your keys cheaper than the car
dealer. Even if it is a new car with a transponder key!
Most locksmiths also are experts
in electronic security, access control, cctv, alarms and
intercoms. Most security companies will hire locksmiths
to fit their electric strikes so why not just use a
locksmith for the whole
job? |
